List of Previous Smash Club Tournaments
Sauce Combat Open, the one that started it all
Champion: Emile Konig
The original Sauce Combat tournament idea came about when the club didn't have any active tournaments planned or going on. A few people thought of a tournament to reinnovate the club for the forseeable future, and what was planned to be a one-and-done tournament turned into the Sauce Combat Series of tournaments. Originally having typical tournament rules, it was nothing compared to the events happening after it. We don't have any footage of it, but we have this photo that was taken during the tournament was happening.
Sauce Combat II, the sequel
Champions: Greg Lazzaro and Logan Ford, known as Rata2uille
Following the success of the first tournament, Sauce Combat II was the first tournament in this series to feature not one, but two people on one side. We played on the small screen, had the commentators toss a few jokes around, and recorded the playoffs, but unfortunately left out the finals. You can find the video of the playoffs below this text.
Sauce Combat 3: Winterfest, the christmas special
Champion: Emile Konig
As we started to get into the Christmas spirit, Smash Club needed to celebrate the jolly season with a tournament. For this edition, we went back to one player per team but the only legal stage was Glacier on battlefield. There isn't much else to say about this one, but hopefully a playoff video can explain.
Sauce Combat 4, the dark ages
Champion: NONE, CANCELLED EARLY
The tournament organizer planned for this to have an all random twist, and for it to be one of the greatest tournaments yet. At the time, there were a lot of events and days off that had to push back the tournament by a long shot. Unfortunately, the tournament was never able to finish, and effectively derailed Sauce Combat's momentum for pretty much the rest of the semester. Maybe some day the tournament can finally reach completion..
Sauce Combat 5, the one where you pick three, and fight three others
Champion: Mr. Adam
By this point, Sauce Combat was getting pretty stale. The original idea was to do a 5v5 Squad Strike tournament, but due to time constraints we could only do 3v3. We don't know anything else about the tournament other than the fact that Mr. Adam won.
Sauce Combat 6 & 7, the forgotten ones
Champion: Did these tournaments even exist?
To be honest, we're not even sure those two happened
Sauce Combat 8, the refill and the spook
Champion: Jeff Greenfield
New year, new beginnings. This tournament marked the kickoff of the first month of Smash Club, and was done with spooky characters and spooky maps only. In the end, Lebo-known Brawl master Jeff Greenfield brought home the bacon. Video may or may not be in the works.
Sauce Combat 9, the double trouble
Champion: Jeff Greenfield and Logan Ford, known as Louis the Unhelpful Frog
This is the second edition of the Power of 2 tournaments, and will be uploaded to youtube soon. We probably won't have as crazy of an intro as last time, but we can assure you there will be better commentary and your ears will be safe.
Sauce Combat X, the big Brawl
Champion: We'll see!
The story will continue soon...
